The Bells of St Clement's

Not the ones in the Oranges and Lemons nursery rhyme, but a brand new ring of bells that will be installed in St Clement's church in Cambridge.  This is one of the oldest churches in the historic centre of Cambridge, and both the bells and the church will be open to the public.  We will be showing visitors how bells are rung in English churches, explaining the mysteries of Campanology, and providing the opportunity to have a go and learn all the necessary skills.

Once learnt, these skills can be practised in thousands of churches around England, with many more in Scotland, Wales and Ireland, and around the World.  Most of these churches need more bell-ringers to join their band, and one of the joys of being a bell-ringer is being able to turn up without needing an invitation at almost any practice night or Sunday service ringing and being welcomed to take part.  Bell-ringing is inclusive and suitable for all ages, and there are plenty of opportunities for socialising too.

The bells are not there yet, but read on.....
