Learning to Teach

If bell-ringing is to thrive and recruit a new generation of ringers, much more teaching of beginners needs to be done.  There may be a feeling that this is the job of tower captains or other older ringers, but there is no need for either age or great experience in order to be an effective teacher.

The Association of Ringing Teachers was set up to promote good teaching techniques and to establish a qualification to demonstrate a reasonable level of ability.  It can be difficult to achieve the qualification where there are few recruits or little encouragement to take this on.  At St Clement’s we are hoping to make this easy by providing what is lacking elsewhere.  We just need the money to get our project off the ground!  Until then, if you are interested in teaching we recommend you see how you can 'Get Involved' on the ART website.
